Meet Mario Felix: Soccer Account Executive

We're pleased to welcome Mario Felix to the PlayerData team.

We've always believed the best people to bring GPS technology to coaches are the ones who've lived inside high-performance environments and understand what coaches actually need. Mario Felix is exactly that. A soccer coach who has built his career at programs like Kansas State, Missouri, Southern Utah, and UC Santa Barbara, Mario spent years in the business of player development before making the move to PlayerData. He knows what it looks like when a program gets it right, and what's missing when they don't.

We sat down with Mario to find out what drew him to PlayerData, what drives him in his new role, and what bold prediction he's willing to put on record.

What was it about PlayerData that piqued your interest?

I've always been a big advocate of GPS and its importance for performance and injury prevention in sports. So when I was introduced to the product, I was sold immediately.

What excites you most about joining the PlayerData team?

There is no ceiling with PlayerData. Being a part of the best product out there gives me an immense sense of pride.

What do you like most about working in sports?

The mindset of an athlete or coach is about getting better. Working in sports, you know what matters to clubs and programs. Being around competitive, like-minded people every day is something I genuinely enjoy.

What coach or mentor had the biggest impact on your life? What's one lesson they taught you that has stayed with you?

Kai Edwards. His lesson: trust your gut, and never be afraid to go against the grain. That one has followed me into every room I've walked into since.

Are you willing to share a bold prediction for the future of sports?

Within the next five to ten years, athlete monitoring will be as standard as game film. Clubs that don't track workload and performance data will struggle to keep players healthy, competitive, and retained.
