EDINBURGH, 1 October 2026: PlayerData has announced that its EDGE Air tracking device has become the first wearable to achieve FIFA Quality Pro certification within the FIFA Quality Programme for Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS). The achievement marks a major milestone for the company, reinforcing its commitment to delivering exceptional accuracy without compromising affordability or ease of use.
Newly introduced within the EPTS programme, FIFA Quality Pro is a designation for elite player tracking and officiating applications at the highest level of the game. With a focus on exceptional accuracy and real-time data, it recognises the demands placed on tracking technology in football’s most exacting environments.
“When developing EDGE Air, we put every decision through the same filter: does this set the highest standard in the sport, and will it work for the entire football pyramid?” said Roy Hotrabhvanon, Founder of PlayerData. “The hardware, the data, the workflow. All of it had to work for both the national team and the youth club down the road. Making the technology accessible could never mean compromising on quality.”

FIFA’s EPTS performance testing evaluates tracking accuracy by comparing device data against reference systems, including motion capture, as players perform football-specific movements. This provides an independent assessment of how accurately a system captures player movement under defined testing conditions. Published performance reports give teams visibility into the accuracy of positioning and speed data across different movement speeds, helping them make informed decisions about the technology they use.
For PlayerData, the certification strengthens a proposition that has guided the product from the beginning: the technology trusted in elite environments should also be practical and accessible for the clubs developing the next generation.
“I’m especially proud that my local grassroots team down the road uses the same PlayerData products as teams at the World Cup,” added Hotrabhvanon. “That was always the ambition. Achieving FIFA Quality Pro is a proud moment for everyone who has helped build EDGE Air, but our goal remains the same: give every coach and player access to technology they can trust.”
The achievement follows PlayerData’s selection as a FIFA Preferred Provider for Player Tracking. Through the two-year agreement, the company is contributing research and development in collaboration with FIFA to advance technical standards and share knowledge with the wider football community.
With EDGE Air, PlayerData continues to pursue the same ambition: meet the highest demands in the sport, and make that technology work for the entire game.
